Abstract

Ohio Radon Information System is a comprehensive source of information about radon.

It has been developed at university of Toledo and funded by Ohio Department of Health.

This system provides information about radon concentrations in water, schools and homes throughout Ohio. A website has been developed which contains extensive information about radon. It provides information about sources, general information and geology of radon. Testing Procedures are thoroughly explained on the website. List of radon professionals and the health risk posed by radon are also explained. Databases are maintained for all the three categories mentioned above and are continuously updated and analyzed. Databases for Schools and Water are maintained in MS ACCESS. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the analysis of radon data. The database for homes is large containing around 94,000 data points and is maintained in Oracle. Data are received from various agencies and are seasoned, updated and analyzed. The statistics are generated and corresponding maps are prepared and posted on the website.
