Dr. Jennings was one of the original developers of multicomponent mass transport modeling of groundwater contamination. He has also developed experimental procedures for measuring the physical impacts of chemical reactions with soils. This work will allow engineers to improve the long-term performance of hazardous waste disposal containment systems. In addition Dr. Jennings has designed expert systems to help EPA review hazardous waste facilities, devised tools to automate risk analysis, and developed decision-support software to help engineers make better environmental decisions. Most recently he headed a NSF-Gateway consortium of professors experimenting with techniques to increase the use of computer modeling in Environmental Engineering education.
